Influences of the Textured Surface Micro-Texture Depth on the Friction Coefficient

Abstract: The use of textured surfaces in lubrication to improve tribological properties has been widely studied. Understanding the influence of geometric parameters of textured surface on these tribological characteristics is helpful to improve its industrial application. This paper aims to analyze the effect of microstructure depth on friction coefficient through experiments. In this experiment, different copper alloy samples were processed by laser for the first time, and different micropore depths (40.83 ) were obtained μ M and 46.36 μ m) Texture. A 3D electron Olympus microscope was used to visualize the shape of the hole and find the depth. Then, friction tests were carried out on these samples at the same speed. The variation curve of friction coefficient with time is drawned and analyzed. The analysis of time variation of the friction coefficient shows a reduction of friction coefficient with the increase of the micro-hole depth has been observed. In some cases, this reduction is significant.
