The Effects of Cooperative Learning in Enhancing the Performance Level of Grade-10 Mathematics Students in Talavera National High School in the Philippines

Abstract: Mathematics is considered by many students as adifficult academic subject. To improve theirperformance, various learning strategies are employed by teachersabandoning the conventional method. This study focused on the cooperativelearning as a method to enhance level of performance of grade 10 mathematicsstudents in the Philippines. It looked into the method and how it influencedstudents’ performance. By using a quasi-experimental research method, the following results are generated: 1) the method positively improved the performance in mathematics of the control andexperimental groups; 2) while effectiveness assessmentshowed a highly effective result; and 3) theapplication of the method showed a positive impact on the participants as shownby their positive perception of the subject mathematics.
