Abstract: Based on the well known fact that the quasinormalfrequencies are the poles of the frequency domain Green’s function we describea method that allows us to calculate exactly thequasinormal frequencies of the Klein-Gordon field moving in thethree-dimensional rotating Bañados-Teitelboim-Zanelli black hole. Thesequasinormal frequencies are already published and widely explored in severalapplications, but we use this example to expound the proposed method ofcomputation. We think that the described procedure can be useful to calculateexactly the quasinormal frequencies of classical fields propagating in otherbackgrounds. Furthermore, we compare with previous results and discuss somerelated facts.
