Analysis of Different Vibration Control Strategies for Soft Mounted Induction Motors with Sleeve Bearings Using Active Motor Foot Mounts

Abstract: The paper presents a theoretical analysis ofdifferent vibration control strategies of soft mounted induction motors withsleeve bearings, using active motor foot mounts. After the vibration model ispresented, different controllers in combination with different feedbackstrategies are mathematically investigated. The focus is here on the forcedvibrations, caused by dynamic rotor eccentricity—rotormass eccentricity, magnetic eccentricity and bent rotor deflection. After themathematically coherences are described, a numerical example is shown, wherethe forced vibrations caused by bent rotor deflection are investigated, fordifferent control strategies, where the mass matrix, the stiffness matrix andthe damping matrix are influenced by differentcontrol parameters. The aim of the paper is to show the mathematicallycoherences and the possibility to influence the vibration behaviour, by differentcontrol strategies to optimize the vibration behaviour of soft mountedinduction motors.
