Abstract: Post-conflict reintegration is an aspect ofpeacebuilding that deals with the social, political and economic integration ofex-combatants and their families. It is a long-term process that provides aprimary support network into civil society (Nilson, 2005).The research aimed to examine the role(s) of civil society organizations inpost-conflict Reintegration of Niger Delta, Nigeria. Civil society is the “third sector” of society. The research adopted thedescriptive-evaluative research design and used a secondary source for data collection. The research findings show that the struggle for resource control between theNigerian government and indigenes of the Niger Delta is the root source of theconflict. The 2009 Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) was implemented toreconcile these differences and promote stability in the region and country atlarge. The success of the amnesty programme was hindered by lots of challengesencountered both from the national government and the ex-combatants.Nonetheless, with the support of civil society organizations, PAP recordedseveral successes.
