Abstract: The political struggle in Singapore in the 1950s and 1960s - the struggle between the Chinese educated left wing of the working class and the British educated middle class factions - has not been completely eradicated, but it is still casting a shadow on the development of modern politics. In the early 1960s, the moderate and British educated faction took over the people s Action Party (Pap) and achieved a major victory. However, under the leadership of low thia khiang, the workers Party (WP) unexpectedly gained the upper hand. In Hougang and Aljunied, long-term marginalized groups educated in Chinese became active, while Mr. low was a charming but low-key person who spoke Chaozhou Dialect. WP s ability to develop a lasting "brand " during 2006-2013 surprised many commentators. By 2013, it had become a singing teampore’s second-strongest political force.
