Abstract: This paper attempts to analyze one of the documents that may affect English as a foreign language teacher s classroom activities, namely teacher apos; guide. It also discusses the background of the document and criticizes the suggestions on how English teachers teach and how to teach English. Therefore, this paper stands at the junction of critical discourse analysis and language policy in the study of educational language policy. Teacher & apos; The guidelines selected and the analysis conducted here are not necessarily related to their representativeness and typicality, but to the opportunities they provide for researchers and teachers to understand such language policy documents and how to reflect language and language teaching objectives therein. The problem isues raised in this paper will have relevance to the EFL teachers' guides and EFL education in other contexts, as these issues are likely to be true of other EFL milieux.
