Abstract: This paper discusses the school choice reform in Sweden. In Sweden, significant changes have taken place in education policy, including the rapid expansion of market solutions and strong national support for competition. Although some studies have examined the school choice reform, few people pay attention to the effect of this reform from the perspective of teachers, especially in Sweden. Therefore, this paper examines the working experience of Swedish high school teachers in independent (private) and public schools in school choice reform. This study used qualitative interview to interview 58 teachers from five municipal and three independent high schools. Its theoretical framework depends on freidson & apos; This is professional logic, bureaucracy and the market. The findings indicate that the traditional position of teachers—a position that must negotiate the tension between the logic of the profession and the logic of the bureaucracy—is now in fact challenged by the logic of the market. This study argues that values linked to the logic of the market are imposed on the teachers, and these market values clash with the teachers' values, values based on the logic of the profession.
