Abstract: We investigated the objectives, practical applications and learning outcomes of moral education and civic education in three vocational schools (vmbo) in the Netherlands. We explore the educational, socio political and moral development goals of teachers and students and how they deal with values, dialogue and diversity. We continue to discuss how these goals are achieved in practice and the views of teachers and students on learning outcomes. The research shows that there is a strong consistency between teachers and students on the importance of moral education and civic education goals. The difference between schools lies in their attention to social and political aspects, as well as the reflection and dialogue of their methods. Differences in moral educationapproaches can be largely linked with differences in their cultural environment.
