Evaluation of Internet use, practice and professional development barriers by agricultural science teachers in Lagos

Abstract: This paper reports a study on the use of Internet by agricultural science teachers in Lagos, focusing on use, practice and obstacles. A questionnaire was compiled according to the literature, and 300 agricultural science teachers in Lagos school were investigated. 275 correctly filled questionnaires were analyzed. The data show that 130 teachers are using the Internet to teach Agricultural Science in the classroom and carry out various activities to promote their professional development. However, the study found that agricultural science teachers in Lagos did not make full use of the Internet because of obstacles related to time factors, accessibility and facilities. It is suggested that there needs to be an I for the diffusion of Internet practicecrease in funding for technology, an introduction of computer technology education, a provision of pedagogical training for teachers, and a provision of administrational support.
