Abstract: This multi-year mixed approach study aims to understand (a) pre service and in-service teachers views on the importance of action research in their teaching career, and (b) how teachers use the skills developed in the research curriculum when conducting reflective inquiry and research in their own classroom. Based on 176 surveys, we conclude that research plays an important role in Teachers professional life. Teachers hope to (a) have more time for research, and (b) cooperate with colleagues and managers and get their help. Ethnographic data from three participants showed that everyone had a different understanding of the study, which affected what happened in the classroom. The enlightenment to teacher research is discussed.
