Abstract: This paper presents the results of a qualitative case study that examines the ways Muslim students perceive and deal with differences. The motivation for this study is that it needs to be expressed in previous literature in order to understand the relationship between tolerance and religion in more detail. Deepen understanding of these dynamics by focusing on a specific group and background of Muslim adolescents in Finland. Students negotiations between different cultural and ideological sources of understanding differences and tolerance will be elaborated and discussed in detail. These negotiations reflect special challenges in dealing with religious differences.
