Leadership style: a school perspective in Cameroon

Abstract: This paper examines the leadership styles of middle school principals in Cameroon, including transformational leadership style, transactional leadership style and laissez faire leadership style. This paper discusses the leadership style of Cameroon and puts forward the idea of continuous improvement. Qualitative methods and semi-structured interviews were used. This was done on ten principals, ten teachers and ten students. Most school respondents said their principals were transformation leaders. The nature of transformational leadership in Cameroonian schools has been questioned because there is less leadership training and development in schools.
