What do you know about mathematical modeling in primary school

Abstract: Mathematical modeling is often emphasized in middle school, but more research is needed in primary school. This paper aims to summarize the known knowledge of elementary mathematical modeling to guide future research. A targeted general literature search was carried out, and the research was summarized according to five categories: the content of mathematical modeling intervention, the collected evaluation data, the analysis unit, population and effectiveness of the research. It is found that the research can be divided into three main analysis units: representation ability and conceptual ability, created model and students belief. The main findings of these analysis units and the future research are discussed.
