High school educational technology in Iran: English teachers' attitude, perception and practical use

Abstract: It goes without saying that technology has affected almost all areas of our lives, and the teaching of English as a foreign language (EFL) is no exception. In addition, the undeniable decisive role of teachers in integrating technology into teaching can not be ignored. In view of this, this study discusses the attitude, perception and practical use of classroom teaching technology of senior high school English teachers in Iran. 120 middle school and high school English teachers randomly selected from Iran filled in the survey of high school English teachers attitude towards computer technology. More than 600 junior and senior high school students filled out a student questionnaire to investigate the use of educational technology by English teachersin Classrooms. The results indicated that even though Iranian teachers have an overall positive attitude toward (computer) technology, they are not sufficiently competent to use it in their classes, and this lack of competence may be one of the main barriers to the full use of technology in their classes.
