The role of emotion in Teachers' Professional Development: participating in the teacher research experience (RET) project

Abstract: The current study investigated the changes of teachers emotion, motivation and classroom practice, as well as their participation in the six week summer professional development (PD) program. Participants () participated in the teacher research experience (RET) program of a large university in the United States. Overall, the results show that emotion plays an important role in Teachers participation in RET program, and leads to changes in Teachers thinking and the implementation of science teaching practice. There is a positive correlation between teachers motivation and emotion of PD experience and the changes of teaching practice. The interview data help to have a deeper understanding of participants views on their RET experience.
