Enhancing students' mixed learning experience by embedding metalanguage

Abstract: With the continuous advancement of the diversified application of information technology in higher education and teaching, more and more colleges and universities begin to adopt hybrid learning, combine the traditional face-to-face lectures with online teaching, and create a flexible content delivery mode that meets the requirements of the new digital economy. At the same time, the literacy ability of college students also needs to be improved. Metaliteracy is a comprehensive model of information literacy, which can enhance the mixed learning experience. Embedding meta language learning in mixed curriculum is considered to be a feasible way to enhance students mixed learning ability. Combined with the survey data of Li Mou of Xi an Jiaotong Universityerpool University, a Sino-UK institution located in China, this paper reports the results of an investigation into the pedagogical issues including the metaliteracy learning experience of using an interactive communication environment and the benefits and challenges of integrating practices of metaliteracy with blended learning.
