Relationship between benchmark scores of Community College Students' University participation and honor course registration: a national study

Abstract: In this survey, the data from the community college student participation survey were used to investigate the difference between the benchmark score and the admission status of honorary courses of community college students. There were statistically significant differences in all five benchmark scores (i.e. active and collaborative learning, student effort, academic challenges, student faculty and support for learners). The benchmark scores of students who have participated in the honor program are 9 to 16 points higher than those who have not participated in the honor program, which reflects their higher degree of academic participation, deeper contact with mentors and peers, and more use of academic and student support services.
