Abstract: In the 2000s, Norway implemented several major educational reforms. Inspired by the Finnish model, the teacher education reform has introduced new research content in order to develop new professional knowledge as the basis of teachers professional practice. Based on Marton s legal code theory and the practice of students research and development in new teacher education, this paper discusses the tension between knowledge and cognitive style in new teacher education in Norway. This paper refutes the one-dimensional concept of practical knowledge based on experience in teacher education, and holds that professional knowledge is the practice provided by professional knowledgend theoretical knowledge.
