Abstract: Oral activity is an educational program used to motivate learners through experience and contact. Therefore, this study investigates the practice and implementation of oral skills activities of English teachers in Grade 10 English textbooks in Ethiopia. In order to achieve this goal, 72 grade 10 students were selected to fill in the questionnaire by using simple random sampling technology, and 4 English teachers were selected for classroom observation and interview by using comprehensive sampling technology. A descriptive case study design using mixed data collection and analysis methods. In order to collect relevant data, a one month observation was conducted using the checklist. Next, a questionnaire survey with five point Likert scale was conducted. Finaly, an interview was also conducted with EFL teachers. The data revealed that EFL teachers rarely present speaking skill activities, and even when they present, they did not motivate students and did not provide clear instructions. Moreover, they mostly used students’ mother tongue (L1) by ignoring the target language, and they were limited only to some common activities and failed to use all or various techniques of presenting speaking skill activities. Therefore, EFL teachers are strongly recommended to follow the four stages of presenting the speaking skill activities.
