Study on the relationship between test anxiety, time management and academic procrastination of health students

Abstract: Academic procrastination is a harmful phenomenon among students, which has many negative consequences. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between test anxiety, time management and academic procrastination of health majors. The study population included 281 Iranian health students. The variables were measured by Tuckman procrastination scale, time management scale and sarasen test anxiety scale. Pearson correlation and multiple regression tests were also carried out. The average score of students academic procrastination is higher than the average level. There was a significant negative correlation between time management and academic delay (R   =   − 0.487,   ≤  0.01)nificantly positive correlation between test anxiety and academic procrastination (r = 0.443,  ≤ 0.01). The linear regression model indicated that independent predictors including time management and test anxiety accounted for 32.6 of the variation in academic procrastination (R2 = 32.6 ). The findings of this study indicated that test anxiety and time management were associated with academic procrastination. Therefore, purposeful educational and psychological interventions are required to reduce academic procrastination in students.
