Abstract: The health and quality of life of most children in the world are affected by dental caries and periodontal disease. The disproportionate suffering of people in developing countries and vulnerable groups as a result of these forms of oral ill health; However, many primary and secondary pathologies can be prevented by simple and cheap measures that children can easily learn. The WHO health promotion school (HPS) is an established model for solving public health problems by educating children by acquiring knowledge and health practices and promoting behaviors that have a positive impact on health determinants. The HPS program to address poor oral health improved oral health practices and reduced caries ratesamong disadvantaged populations of children. WHO has called for more programs to address the “epidemic” of poor oral health worldwide, and the WHO HPS model appears to be a relevant and applicable way forward. Health care professionals and educators who want to improve the health and quality of life of children related to caries and periodontal disease now have an opportunity to collaborate to initiate, deliver, and evaluate community-based HPS interventions using proven concepts, content, and process.
