Abstract: Antimony (III) complex [sb (HEDTA)] · 2H2O was synthesized from ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (h4edta) and antimony oxide in aqueous solution. The composition and structure of the complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy, single crystal X-ray diffraction, X-ray powder diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry. The crystal structure of antimony (III) complex belongs to orthorhombic system. The space group Pna2 (1) and the unit cell parameters are (18)   197, (12)   197, (5)   197, (2)   197,3, and   g   cm − 3. Sb (III) ions form a distorted triangular biconical geometry by five coordination − ligands of two amino N atoms and three carboxyl O atoms from a single hedta3. The thermal decomposition process of the complex includes dehydration,xidation, and pyrolysis of the ligand, and the last residue is Sb2O3 at the temperature of 570°C.
