Abstract: Gbisph1, IspH 1 type in Ginkgo chloroplast, is an Fe s enzyme that catalyzes the reduction of hmbpp to isopentenyl diphosphate (IPP) and dimethyl allyl diphosphate (dmapp) in the last step of methyl erythritol phosphate pathway in chloroplast. Compared with bacterial IspH, plant IspH, including gbisph1, has an additional polypeptide chain at the N-end. Here, the biochemical function of gbisph1 N-terminal region was studied with N-terminal truncated gbisph1 (gbisph1 truncation). Both wild-type gbisph1 (gbisph1 full) and gbisph1 truncated type have catalytic activity and produce IPP and dmapp in a proportion of 15 :
