Synthesis and spectroscopic study of ferrocene based bioactive bimetallic thiourea complexes

Abstract: Bioactive 1,1 ′ - (4,4 ′ - ferrocenyl) diphenylthiourea and various metal complexes of the ligand have been successfully synthesized and characterized by FT-IR, polynuclear (1H and 13C) NMR spectroscopy, melting point and elemental analysis. The interaction between synthetic compounds and DNA was studied by cyclic voltammetry and viscosity method. The double helix structure of the complex embedded in DNA may be taking place. The viscosity measurement of the complex shows that there is a change in length, which is considered to be the most unambiguous and key test of the binding model in solution. The relative potential of the complex as antibacterial, antifungal and inhiition agents against the enzyme, alkaline phosphatase EC 3.1.3.1, has also been assessed and the complexes were found to be active inhibitors.
