Abstract: Tryptophan is one of the most important components of indole quinoline alkaloids. We obtained this alkaloid from Radix Isatidis. Two new and complex tryptophan were synthesized for the first time. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis showed that these complexes showed a distorted tetrahedral configuration through two heterocyclic nitrogen atoms and oxygen atoms in the tryptophan ligand. The properties of binding to G-quadruplex DNA showed that both complexes showed significant interaction with G-quadruplex DNA. This study may be the basis for the rational design of metal drugs targeting G-quadruplex DNA from natural products in the future.
