Synthesis, structure analysis and bioactivity of several imidazole salts

Abstract: Four newly synthesized imidazole salts were characterized by NMR, vibrational spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. Then, the molecular configuration is obtained by density functional theory calculation, so as to obtain theoretical NMR and IR spectra. By comparing the calculated spectra of each molecule with the experimental spectra, it can be concluded that the theoretical results can well explain their molecular configuration. The in vitro bioactivity of salts on selected bacteria and cancer cell lines was determined by broth dilution method according to the guidelines of the Institute of clinical and laboratory standards. 1,3-bis (2-hydroxyethyl) imidazolinem bromide and 3-(2-ethoxy-2-oxoethly)-1-(3-aminopropyl)-1H-imidazol-3-ium bromide showed efficiency on Bacillus cereus ATCC 11778. The 3-bis(2-carboxyethyl)-4-methyl-1-H-imidazol-3-ium bromide was effective on HeLa while a similar effect was observed on Hep G2 with 3-(2-carboxyethyl)-1-(3-aminopropyl)-1H-imidazol-3-ium bromide.
