Abstract: After Rosenberg accidentally discovered cisplatin in 1962, there appeared in the field of bioinorganic chemistry. Cisplatin is called "cancer penicillin " because of its wide application. It is the first chemotherapeutic drug. After that, a new field of drug formulation and metal center core was stimulated and studied. Interestingly, it has become a promising alternative for the treatment of various diseases such as cancer, microorganisms, quorum sensing and biofilm related infectious diseases. The field of metal drugs has also developed with the emergence of nano materials as therapeutic anticancer and antibacterial agents. These molecules also show great potential as potential drug candidates, with different prospects from chemotherapy to diagnosis to drug delivery of varios diseases. Nanomaterials possess unique physical and chemical properties. The fabrication of nanomaterials gives rise to controlled size, shape, compositions, charge, aggregation, and solubility. This special issue includes a collection of original papers covering aspects related to the synthesis and characterization of various metal-based compounds and nanomaterials with anticancer and antimicrobial properties.
