Abstract: This paper studies the application of a novel wavelet in the damage detection of regular and irregular building structures under seismic load. The energy and correlation coefficient of wavelet transform are used to detect the performance of damaged buildings. A simple three-dimensional regular and irregular simulation (finite element model) model of buildings is designed to verify the use and optimal application of the method. The results show that the energy of discrete wavelet transform (DWT) shows higher performance in detecting building damage than that of continuous wavelet transform (CWT), and the performance of irregular buildings seems to be suitable for use in seismically active areas. In addition, the correlation coefficient can be obtainedicient can be applied to study the effects of damage and the safety of structures.
