Study on properties of foamed concrete reinforced with small glass beads

Abstract: Foam concrete (400) with ordinary portland cement (42.5R), vegetable protein foaming agent, fly ash and glazed hollow microbeads (GHB, K46). The kg m3 cement was prepared by physical foaming method. The performance of cement paste and the structure and distribution of voids were characterized by rheometer, scanning electron microscope and XRD analysis. The influence of GHBs on the compressive strength and thermal conductivity of foam concrete was studied. The results showed that the ratio was 50-400. μ M pores, average pore diameter, compressive strength and thermal conductivity of samples mixed with 28   D and 2.4   weight percentage GHB are 94.44 and 182.10 respectively μ m. 2.39   MPa and 0.0936   w (m · K). GHB excess (> 2.4   wt ) increased the quantityf air voids with diameter smaller than 50 μm in the hardened foamed concrete as well as the degree of open porosity. Moreover, the proportion of 50–400 μm air voids, average air-void diameter, 28 d compressive strength, and thermal conductivity of the sample mixed with 4.0 wt GHBs are 88.54 , 140.50 μm, 2.05 MPa, and 0.0907 w (m·k), respectively.
