A new way of preparing atmospheric pressure drying thermal insulation silica gel from coal gangue

Abstract: Coal gangue is one of the main harmful emissions of coal purification in coal mine industry, which is rich in silica and alumina. However, waste recycling is often limited by less efficient technologies and less attractive outputs; The utilization rate of these wastes is still less than 15 . In this work, precursors extracted from recovered silicon rich gangue are used to synthesize silica aerogels through one-step surface silylation and atmospheric drying. Low density (~0.19 * g cm3) nanostructure aerogels, with three-dimensional open cell microstructure and high specific surface area (~690 m2 g), have excellent thermal insulation properties (~26.5 ), megawatts, K 1 K, a 4-5 person aircraft, mm particles identified by transient hot wire me.hod). This study offers a new facile route to the synthesis of insulating aerogel material by recycling solid waste coal gangue and presents a potential cost reduction of industrial production of silica aerogels.
