Abstract: In order to study the effect of particle size on the wear properties of magnetorheological fluid (MRF), the experimental materials, preparation technology and test methods were described, and three MRF samples with different particle sizes were prepared. The effect of particle size on the wear properties of MR fluid was discussed. In addition, the microstructure of particles extracted from magnetorheological fluid before and after wear test was observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM). The experimental results show that the particle size has a significant effect on the wear properties of MR fluid. In addition, the average diameter of MRF   with particles of 1.5 – 2.8 is μ m. Meet the requirements of engineering application.
