Abstract: The purpose of this study is to study the high bending strength iron soft magnetic composite (SMC) for active magnetic bearing (AMB). Iron powder is first covered by oxide layer through passivation process at room temperature. The effects of annealing methods on the static properties, magnetic properties and bending strength of SMC were studied. The results show that the permeability, magnetic loss and bending strength can be significantly improved by increasing the bonding number between iron surface and resin and adopting two-step annealing method. In addition, the influence of pore shape and angle on the fracture behavior of materials is studied by finite element method, and the correctness of the analysis is verified by experimental results.
