Abstract: The response of 13 reinforced concrete shear walls in continuous seismic test is post processed to produce the time history of secant stiffness and displacement amplitude. For each wall, the envelope curve of displacement amplitude and stiffness is determined, which is simulated by a straight line with double logarithmic ratio. This relatively simple model, when used in combination with the demand response spectrum as a capacity line, can approximately predict the maximum response to the application earthquake. In addition, the first mock exam of demand spectrum and the only model capacity line of a set of equilateral walls with different assumed design frequencies are given.ed in the experiments for the respective walls. The same method allows as well constructing vulnerability curves for any design frequency or spectrum. Finally, the comparison of the different identified line models for the different walls allows us to assess the qualitative effect on the behaviour of parameters such as the reinforcement density or the added normal load.
