Abstract: We report the synthesis of composites with wood building material strength from domestic waste. We use the original domestic waste and only need simple pretreatment to reduce the treatment cost. Waste consists of organic components (usually from food), paper, plastic and clothing; The average score of each waste reflects the corresponding waste score in Bandung, Indonesia. Ten landfill sites distributed in Bandung were preliminarily investigated to determine the average proportion of each component in waste. This composite material is made by hot pressing. A large number of synthesis parameters were tested and the best synthesis parameters were determined. The measured mechanical strength of the composites is close to o wood building materials. A fire-retardant powder was added to retard fire so that the composite could be useful for the construction of residential homes of lower-income people who often have problems with fire. Fire tests showed that the composites were more resistant to fire than widely used wood building materials.
