Durability of steel fiber reinforced concrete beams mixed with corrosion inhibitor in chloride environment

Abstract: This paper introduces the influence of corrosion inhibitor and steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) on concrete structure in chloride environment. Twelve beams were cast and tested to study their bending properties. After scanning electron microscope observation, the surface morphology of steel with corrosion inhibitor showed a low layer of corrosion products. As shown in this study, the steel surface immersed in inhibitor free solution is corroded by chloride ion. The interest in this research area lies in the relatively high durability of performance when inhibitors are used. The crack width and crack spacing of beams under the same load show that SFRC containing inhibitors must be used in concrete structures in chloride environmente transferred tension across cracks that led to reducing crack spacing without any chloride ions attack.
