Abstract: Through experiments and numerical simulation, the effects of concrete age and creep on the ultimate bearing capacity of concrete-filled steel tubular columns are studied. After verifying the numerical model, the parameters are studied, and the results are used to formulate the empirical formula for predicting the ultimate axial bearing capacity of columns. The calculation formulas of creep coefficient and aging coefficient of concrete-filled steel tubular columns are proposed, considering the restraint effect of steel tube on concrete. Then, the proposed formula is independently verified by comparing its prediction results with the existing test results carried out by other researchers. The comparison shows that the empirical formula can be used in practical engineering designFST columns.
