Abstract: With the increasingly wide application of high-performance materials in civil engineering, reinforced concrete (RC) structures have been developed, with reduced cross-section and increased span. In such structures, the serviceability limit state is usually the control condition of design. This study investigates the deformation behavior of high-strength reinforced concrete tie rods strengthened with high-grade reinforcement. The experimental study was carried out by measuring the post cracking stiffness of the specimen at high strain level. It is found that although the stiffness is reduced, a considerable part of the average tensile stress is borne by concrete in the advanced loading stage, which effectively strengthens RC members.
