Study on the performance of two passive controllers to suppress the rotational response of irregular buildings

Abstract: The performance of two passive vibration control devices (circular tuned liquid damper (c-tld) and circular tuned liquid column damper (c-tlcd)) under dynamic load on irregular building structures is experimentally studied. In the X direction, Y direction and rotation direction, the specific direction of the maximum response of the expected structure is determined by experiments. According to the frequency of the first three modes and the change of water level in the equipment container, the power spectral density (PSD) of structural response is calculated by fast Fourier transform (FFT). The performance of these two controllers to suppress structural vibration under seismic load is comparedan experimentally identified critical direction. The results show that these systems are effective in terms of mitigating the coupled lateral and torsional vibrations of a scaled three-story irregular model.
