Abstract: Aerogel blanket is a composite material composed of silica aerogel particles dispersed in the reinforcing fiber matrix, which can transform fragile aerogels into durable and flexible insulation materials. In this study, silica aerogels with different concentrations (0 - 18.6 ) were loaded onto glass wool and the morphology and thermal properties of the aerogel blanket were studied. Because of the flame retardancy of silica aerogels, the decomposition speed of modified blankets is slower at temperatures between 250 degrees C and 650 degrees C. The average fiber diameter of the original glass wool or modified glass wool material is about 20   μ M and samples have porous, interconnected particles and dendritic structure.
