Preparation and properties of Binary Modified maltodextrin water reducer

Abstract: A new binary modified maltodextrin (bmmd) was synthesized from maltodextrin (MD), 1,3-acetone and maleic anhydride with different glucose equivalent (DE) values, and further applied to water reducer. Its structure was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and ultraviolet spectroscopy (UV). The rheological behavior and concrete strength of the sample solution were also measured, and the adsorption properties were tested by TOC. The effects of process parameters on the degree of substitution (DS) and the amount of cement on the fluidity of cement paste were studied. The results showed that the optimum conditions of sulfonation reaction were as follows: the molecular weight (sulfonating agent) (molecular weight) of de 15 was 1.4, the mass fraction of catalyst was 1 , and the reaction time was 12   Hesteification were (esterified agent) (SMD) of 0.6, the reaction temperature of 90°C, and the reaction time of 4 h. The optimal dosages of sulfonated maltodextrin (SMD) and BMMD were 0.475 and 0.45 , respectively. In this dosage, the main dispersion capacity of BMMD attributes to two kinds of anchoring groups () and the appropriate molecular weight of MD.
