Seismic performance and ice induced vibration control of offshore platform structure based on iso-pfd-sma support system

Abstract: Pall friction damper (PFD) has high energy dissipation capacity, while shape memory alloy (SMA) has excellent hyperelastic properties. Therefore, the combination of PFD and SMA as a support system has a broad application prospect in structural vibration control. This paper studies the performance of offshore platforms with three structural configurations (including SMA support system, iso-sma (ISO stands for isolation) support system and iso-pfd-sma support system) under earthquake and ice excitation. In this study, pfd-sma support system is installed on the isolation layer of jacket platform under seismic excitation and ice load. Then, the damping effect is evaluated by ANSYS program. The results show that pfd-sm brace system is useful in reducing the seismic response and ice-induced response of offshore platform structures; meanwhile, it also demonstrates excellent energy dissipation and hysteretic behavior.
