Process parameters and mechanism of vanadium ion extraction by supported liquid membrane

Abstract: In order to carry out the experiments related to the easy extraction of vanadium ion (), three supported liquid membranes (SLM) were prepared. The vanadium content of each membrane was 0.01   m methyl cholate (MC), resorcinol (reso) or trioctylamine (TOA) as extractants. Based on the interaction between matrix () and extractant T and the diffusion of the formed solid (TS) through the membrane, the kinetic and thermodynamic models were established. The experimental results verify the model, and determine the macro parameters, permeability (P) and initial flux (), as well as the micro parameters, association constant () and apparent diffusion coefficient (), which are related to the formed solid (TS) and its diffusion through the membrane organic phase. The experimental results show that the method is feasiblemechanism on the migration of the ions through the membrane organic phase is based on the successive jumps of substrate, from one site to another of the extractive agent. To explain these results and understand the mechanism, we studied influence of temperature factor, and we determined activation parameters (, , and ). The results show that this extraction phenomenon is governed by a structural term. Therefore, the membrane performance changes according to nature and structure of the association site presented by each of extractive agents.
