Preliminary research on Internet of things pavement monitoring platform based on piezoelectric cantilever sensor

Abstract: The green and sustainable power supply of sensors in pavement monitoring system has attracted the attention of civil engineers in recent years. In this paper, piezoelectric energy collection technology is used to provide power for acceleration sensor and RF communication. A piezoelectric bimorph cantilever beam is developed to collect vibration energy. The energy collection circuit is used to charge the battery, and its power can reach 1.68   MW, which can meet the power demand of data acquisition and transmission of the acceleration sensor in one working cycle (32.8 seconds). Based on piezoelectric cantilever sensor, the pavement monitoring platform based on Internet of things is preliminarily studied, which provides a new applicable way for pavement monitoringh for civil infrastructure health monitoring.
