Abstract: An important problem to limit the content of rap in asphalt mixture is that the aging binder in rap may lead to premature cracking. Regenerants are often added to high rap mixtures to enhance the properties of adhesives. At present, there is no existing method to predict the service life of recycled asphalt. In this study, the aging of recycled binder was investigated and its durability was compared with that of original asphalt. RTFO and three PAV cycles were used to age various samples of rap, original adhesive and rejuvenating agent with different types and proportions. DSR and BBR tests were performed to check the high and low temperature rheological properties of the adhesive. The results showed that the type and dosage of rejuvenating agent had a great influence on AgIg rate and durability of the binder. Some rejuvenators make the binder age slower, while others accelerate aging. These observations confirm the importance of evaluating the long-term aging of recycled binders. For this purpose, critical PAV time was proposed as a measure of binder’s longevity.
