Multi scale simulation method for determining mechanical behavior of heterogeneous rock and soil and its application

Abstract: In order to study the micromechanical behavior of heterogeneous geotechnical materials, a multi-scale simulation method combining micro molecular simulation, micro analysis of polished flakes and finite element numerical simulation is proposed. By processing the microstructure image obtained by analyzing the polished slices of heterogeneous geotechnical materials, and mapping it to the finite element grid, combining the calculation results with the micromechanical properties of geotechnical materials obtained by molecular simulation, a numerical model which can more accurately reflect the microstructure of heterogeneous geotechnical materials is established. The model is used to analyze the mechanical behavior of heterogeneous materials. Because kenstone is a typical heterogeneous materialises many types of mineral crystals, it was used for the micro mesoscale mechanical behavior analysis in this paper using the proposed method. The results suggest that the proposed method can be used to accurately and effectively study the mechanical behaviors of heterogeneous geomaterials at the micro mesoscales.
