Abstract: The effects of activation temperature on the structure and electrochemical properties of KOH activated carbon xerogels were studied in the range of 700 to 1000 C. At high temperature (1000 degrees C), a more crystalline activated carbon xerogel network was regenerated by chemical activation, and the images were characterized by Raman spectroscopy, XRD and transmission electron microscopy. In addition, the structure and properties of carbon xerogels were studied by SEM images, BET, BJH and -plot. It was found that the activated carbon xerogel sample at 900 degree C has the most suitable structure. It has a high porosity area and a more balanced porosity between micropores and mesopores, which can be used as electrode material.
