Experimental study on underwater explosion load of polyurea coated steel plate

Abstract: In order to improve the survivability of ship structure in underwater explosion, the explosion protection effect was studied by using polyurea coated steel sheet. When testing the bare steel plate with different spacing, select the appropriate spacing as the reference spacing to test the coated steel plate. Through the experiments of different coating positions (front and back) and coating thickness, the factors affecting the explosion resistance of metal substrate were studied. Compared with the bare steel plate, it is found that the polyurea coating can reduce the deformation of the test plate in the burst test under both the front and rear surfaces of the polyurea layer. The increase of coating thickness also reduces the serious corrosiony the deformation of plates. In addition, the properties of the material and the substrate-coating bond strength may also affect the protective effect of the polyurea coating.
