Evolution of longitudinal resistance performance of granular track bed with persistent dynamic reciprocating change

Abstract: The full-scale test models with different loading systems are established, and the dynamic change process of track bed under cyclic longitudinal reciprocating load is analyzed. The test analysis method considers the service performance, longitudinal resistance and evolution trend of track bed under long-term load. The analysis shows that the ballast resistance displacement curve under cyclic load is a group of closed hysteretic curves, and the energy consumption is obvious. In particular, the granular track bed softens in the cycle process, and the longitudinal resistance of the track bed degrades obviously. More specifically, the cyclic softening of granular track bed depends on the dynamic disturbance amplitude, and the higher the dynamic disturbance ismplitude, the more severe the cyclic softening will become. Moreover, this methodology contributes to forming a foundation for an in-depth understanding of the dynamic service performance of ballast CWR tracks and of the stress deformation mechanism of continuously welded rail tracks.
