Abstract: Many road managers and stakeholders are looking for more and better construction and maintenance schemes for flexible and rigid pavement. Because a large number of existing pavements around the world are facing aging problems, well-designed pavement construction and maintenance strategies have attracted the interest of researchers. The selection of paving materials and engineering characteristics are the key factors affecting durability, so the sustainability of the built pavement is highly required. Researchers around the world are vigorously developing and promoting advanced pavement materials and structures to build and maintain sustainable pavement. Pavement materials that can improve durability, reduce cost and reduce raw material consumption,nd lower environmental impacts are desirable for such purposes. Meanwhile, some new design ideas that differ from traditional pavement structures have shown noticeable benefits in terms of pavement durability or cost. In this regard, exploring the benefits of using advanced materials in flexible and rigid pavements is continuously investigated and has currently gained increasing attention. The articles of this issue cover original research papers that will contribute to the development and implementation of advanced pavement materials for sustainable transportation infrastructure.
